CALL FOR STUDENTS AND RESIDENT VOLUNTEERS TO TOWN COMMITTEES
Post Date:05/21/2019 2:00 PM
Dear Residents, Young and Old:
We need you!
For those of you interested in local town governance and operations, here is an opportunity for you to learn more about our Town, earn some SSL hours (if appropriate) and/or apply your knowledge and skills. For example, if you are a student, you might like to earn your SSL hours helping our Town videographer manage the video cameras during live streaming of our Town Council Meetings and special Town forums. Or you might like to put your social media-savvy knowledge and skills to use by working with the new Communications Advisory Committee or assist the Archives Committee by using your creative story-telling talents to create articles and table displays about our Town’s history.
We also have two Town Committees with vacant seats: The Archives Committee has 4 openings (including a chair), and the Arboretum Committee has 1 opening. Since these committees are established by Town Ordinance, members must be appointed by the Mayor and approved by Council. – For more information about these Committees please go to the drop-down list under Committees on the Government page of our Town website: https://www.garrettparkmd.gov/government/committees.
If interested in volunteering as either a student or a committee member, please send us a brief expression of interest via email on what you’d like to do along with one or two reasons for why you would like to be considered (just a couple of sentences). Send your email to Town Manager Andrea Fox at firstname.lastname@example.org and to Mayor Kacky at email@example.com. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Town Office (301-933-7488) or email us.
