Committees established by Ordinance:
Arboretum Committee – advises the Mayor, Town Manager and Council on the management of all tree and perennial plantings in the Town rights –of –way and public spaces.
Archives Committee – advises the Mayor, Town Manager and Council on matters involving the Town archives, including the function of official records management.
Historic Preservation Committee– works with Town residents who are seeking advice about maintaining the historical nature of their homes, prepares material about Garrett Park history and architecture, and advises the Mayor and Town Council on preservation matter
Committees established by the Mayor:
Land Use Committee (Ad hoc) - advises the Town Manager, Mayor and Council on the approval of building permits and variance applications.
Communications Committee (Ad hoc) - advises the Mayor and Town Manager on the Town website, researches and recommends methods and tools to increase outreach and foster interaction with residents; works with the Town Archivist and the Archives Advisory Committee on digital platforms and online tools to foster greater education and interest about our archives and town history.
Traffic and Parking Committee (Ad hoc) - advises the Mayor and Town Manager on traffic and parking issues; researches and recommends best practices for implementing new parking restriction regulations; evaluates success of the implementation and recommends changes for improvement, if necessary; and assists Councilmember Phil Schulp, who is leading a small work group to re-assess and recommend a solution to improve traffic control and parking on the Penn Place parking lot, near the train tracks.
Storm Water Task Force (Ad hoc) - advises the Mayor and Town Manager on feasible solutions for fixing storm water runoff problems around Town. Works with Task Force Lead (Councilmember Hans Wegner) to assess and recommend immediate solutions for situational emergencies and/or timely stop-gap remedies for rapidly emerging issues.
